O30 Week Four Recap

No game write-ups were filed in the fourth week of action in the O30s Division.  Apparently none of the managers were too happy with their team results, perhaps.  Here are the week's results -- the first week that the blue division and yellow division faced off.

Black Cats 1, Kelly's Olympians 1

IPS/Blitz 2, Westside Lompoc 0

Kell's FC Portland 4, FC Swoosh Kell's 1

Red Army vs. JH Kelly -- postponed

Below are the current standings for both divisions.  The top two teams from each qualify for the playoffs.

Open Division Weekend Recap 03/28/10

Scores from the Weekend were:
IPS / Marathon Taverna 0 - 0 Thirsty Lion
Westside 4 - 1 Light of Africa

Excerpt from the Match Report: FC Swoosh Kell's 3 - 0 DNA Futbol Club

...The game of football is a cruel and mysterious game, where the score line can literally hide what in fact took place on the pitch. Credit to the many times champions Swoosh, who hung in there and finished their best chances, including a 90th minute corner. DNA Futbol Club is left to rue how they did not score a single goal in a game where they dominated the possession for both halves, where they displayed crisp technical football and outshot their opponents in both halves.

The Main Thing I Learned From This Weekend:
Is that the goalkeepers in this league are brave, and clutch. Saving penalty kicks, and stealing the ball right off the foot of an oncoming attacker, charging ahead at full speed, are the norm for these guys. Amazing. A good GK, or lack of one, can be game-changing.

O30s Week Three Recap

Red Army 5, IPS/Blitz 0
It was a dreary day for football under the shadow of the mill. Getting players to make the committed drive to Camas must have been to much for IPS as they showed up with only ten. Despite a spirited first half in which the Army hit the post on several occasions the line read one to zero due to a fine goal by OPSL rookie JJ Klaus. As the second half started the visitors obviously had no answer for the emotional return of Frank Cristaudo. As another fine IPS player left the field at the half to go to to work the Army continued to pour it on scoring four before turning the game into a possession contest.

Other scores:
Westside Lompoc 1, JH Kelly 0
FC Swoosh Kell's 5, Black Cats 2
Kelly's Olympians 3, Kell's FC Portland 3
